Like I said, it’s simple psychology.

Respect a person’s autonomy, and they will meet you there. Threaten a person’s freedom, and they are instantly repelled.

Like the colonial settlers who endured death, disease, harsh weather, attacks from wild animals, hunger, and daily hardships just to have freedom and control of their lives, people do not want to part with that sense of independence.

This is so crucial to understand in regard to your sales process.
The old method of vacantly nodding without listening to what prospects are saying and then forcing them to act by speaking for them (e.g., “Obviously, this is a good fit for you, so let me get your credit card info now…”)? No way. Not in today’s consumer environment.
